Interest on Blood is the second album from COLD RECEIPT, and it picks up where No Witness Lights left off, only with more money, more distance and heavier consequences. The streets are still there, but the scenery has changed. Cheap apartments become high-rise rooms, back-alley deals become private dinners, and old debts return with years of interest attached. LOW and WIRE sound colder here, less reactive and more controlled, but the paranoia never disappeared. The production is darker, cleaner and more refined without losing the grit: heavy drums, deep sub-bass, sparse piano, industrial textures, muted jazz elements and long stretches of empty space. The sound feels expensive on the surface and damaged underneath. Interest on Blood is about what happens after survival becomes success, and why success does not erase the past. Some debts get paid. Others only get more expensive.
